Indeed! At 84 now, I remember when I first learned of Bernie, when he was on a very early "roll".... It was August 1963, and a Chicago newspaper photo (still in circulation) showed a policeman "helping" Bernie to the ground for marching against segregation. The NAACP got him out of jail the next day. Later, he was the thrice re-elected mayor of Vermont's largest city, then Vermont's long-time congressman and now into his 3rd term as its senior senator. Along the way, he earned two honorary degrees and national-level awards from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He has always been on the "correct" side of the big issues most important to me: economic, environmental, gender, racial and social justice...and peace. Etc. No surprise, I especially like, and like to recommend, the You Tube, "Bernie and Civil Rights in Chicago." #NotMeUs.

3/4/23. Sorry you chose to slam Sen. Sanders (again). Just for a basic distinction, he is a Democratic Socialist, which is different from a Socialist. Bernie supports public schools, public roads, public libraries, public health, etc. A lot of etc. Yes, he became a millionaire in recent years. That came about after he wrote "Our Revolution," published in Nov. 2016...#3 on the New York Times Best Seller List...also published in China, England, France, Germany, Serbia and South Korea. Then, the following spring, his European publishers arranged a successful book tour for him (to Germany, England and Ireland) around the Congressional Memorial Day break. Recently, I just finished another of his books, "Where We Go from Here: Two Years in the Resistance." It was both interesting and informative. Just now, he has a brand new book out, but I don't know its title.

@seanmccartney5177 Yes. DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other DNC leadership were shown in e-mails to have tilted the playing field in favor of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 primary campaign. DWS was forced to resign her high post because of her actions. Her colleague, Donna Brazille, at least apologized to Bernie...but her gesture was far too late by then. Many Sanders' delegates, who were not great fan of Hillary Clinton or the Democratic establishment to begin with, were further enraged. Bernie's view of it all was not complicated. "Trump was an unmitigated disaster--a racist, sexist, bigot and xenophobe who had to be defeated"....also, "a phony and a pathological liar who had preyed on the fears of the American people." His speech on July 26, 2016, endorsing Hillary, was a classic example of Bernie's statesmanship, then and throughout the fall when he held 39 rallies in 13 states on her behalf. At 84, I've not yet known of another defeated candidate at the national level who was quite so generous to the victor. #NotMeUs.
