Microsoft crushed the open software movement and turned DRM into a fiefdom of rights holding. Which has spread into literally everything that can hold a computer. Like cars. Figuring out how to Install Linux on your car computer is a felony. Which none of you know because none of you ever try.

Pick up some books on the topic. You are trying to be pointlessly pedantic for a company you have no control or influence over.

Software innovation under capitalism the past decade has been to artifically restrict basic functionality of a software unless the real© owners of the code(which they want you only able to borrow)are paid. Regularly. Forever. High end smartphones literally have downgraded internal storage. So you have to buy a monthly cloud storage subscription.
