  1. If John and other investors were to vote for the company they "own" to prioritize saving lives over short term profit maximization. John and those other shareholders would be sued for doing so. Investor activism isn't allowed when it goes against the infinite profit growth maxim of capitalism. Just ask the Exxon investors being sued right now.
