@Shvabicu I can't modify a car touchscreen to display the information I want to know about the car. Because it's a literal felony to mess with the car's software. But I can buy an attachment so I can watch Netflix on that same screen while driving. All major Car companies in North America deserve to go out of business.

Unionization is the way to prevent this BS in the workplace.

Your home life sounds toxic. Living with your family in a multi generational household is standard in most of the world and perfectly fine.
25
@darkworlddenizen the Digital Millennium Copyright Act: “trafficking” in tools to remove DRM or even the information needed to make such a tool is a felony, carrying a five-year prison sentence and a $500,000 fine, even if no copyright infringement takes place. For a first offense. That's an American law.
14
@duancoviero9759 Which is a literal lie. The chicken tax is the only reasons big stupid trucks even exist in the U.S.
11
Because it's easier for them to try breaking the law and hope they aren't punished. Offering a quality service at a decent price isn't the kind of talk that gets you higher quarterly profit projections.

Obvious Bot chain
6
@conservat1vepatr1ot Those monsters are too busy looking at spreadsheets of nonsense. Instead of using that energy to do real world evil.
6
@Corgiking521 no they aren't. Western market Cars today have digital locks that strip away your ability to repair and maintain them yourself.n
4
@darkworlddenizen Who cares what you doubt? I told you the truth. Your own ignorance is the only thing stopping you from learning more. YoU wOuLdN't DoWnLoAd A cAr
4
@alexzanderroberts995 but closed source means it would be a felony for you to make their terrible car software better. That way you are stuck paying $500 a visit to have a car dealer technician tell you a $3 sensor is broken. A sensor they will sell you for only $700.
4
@csibesz07 Coca cola has an internal recycling program for glass coke bottles. They scrapped that for plastic because creating massive plastic pollution makes more short term profits. They will not willingly go back to their own older model.
4
@Krommandant nothing in America. Meanwhile BYD in China is making cars like that no problem.
3
@awdhut-e2e no they aren't
3
The rich democratic west will do anything except build adequate mass public housing or transportation
3
@seattlegrrlie I have a Mercedes EQS 580 and it has a subscription that includes more seat warming controls right now.
3
There are, but they are Chinese so you aren't allowed to get them.
3
@fix0the0spade Thank you! Finally a sane comment. This is the problem in a nutshell.
2
When you hear automation. Think Amazon spyware.
2
@auraguard0212 Just like the rest of capitalism
2
@zanerasmussen8889 I prefer the word enshitification. That describes the situation far better
2
When you organize and unionize with your fellow poors. All your lives get collectively better.
2
Use that on the executive board of the largest corporate conglomerates you can find. That would be more impactful
2
@Ushio01 Wrong. Your car companies care more about their own profits than your benefit and always have. Safer cleaner cars are available in other nations. Americans don't get them because of the chicken tax.
2
Automation in this context is turning the job into Uber. Not machines doing all the work.
2
@rosgoncharuk2403 if by maybe you mean absolutely not
1
Rent seekers are taking so much it's reducing the population.
1
It is smarter to put your eggs in the fridge.
1
Who said you could comment? Get back to work.
1
@JeffreyNero-sk6jv corporations run your government.
1
@Bikini_ST You can't do averages well. Because that average includes the cars the rich buy. Meanwhile China is making 20k EV's that are better than "luxury" cars in the U.S. Americans are all being fleeced for the profits of the rich. While the rest of the world is just making literally better products.
1
That grandpa was the town hero. Saved city hall from a fire when the local cow kicked a lantern right into the community hay bales. His word is gold.
1
Desperation makes strange bedfellows
1
Use a bank to rob the world and you'll get multi million dollar rooms.
1
@darkworlddenizen then try with any amazon content you've ever downloaded
1
@darkworlddenizen Try it and prove me wrong.
1
Shame you have no guaranteed access to housing. Seems like that would help you out a lot.
1
Be the change you want to see in the world.
1
@maxscott3349 Hey speak for yourself. I have a mortgage. Which means my landlord is a bank.
1
@daniels2761 consumers want public transit. Car makers do not care what consumers want. The margins are the big 1, 2, and three.
1
Yeah the prices for distracting nonsense like TV's and social media are cheaper than ever!
1
Their jobs are fake and they provide zero actual value to corporations. All they have is the unilateral ability to pay themselves more.
1
@csibesz07 delusional. Lasting doesn't make infinite growth for next quarter.
1
I'm glad the existence of adequate mass public housing is communism. Otherwise I wouldn't get to pay private citizens/corporations for access to basjc shelter. While we have 7 empty homes for every homeless person right now.
1
There is zero way to automate shipping. Zero.
1
People can imagine the end of society before they can imagine organizing in a union to fight for more of the wealth their work creates. Young people's only path to retirement is through unionization.
1
Those costs are an intentional debt trap. Poor people with debt don't challenge the systems exploiting them.
1
It is impossible to automate shipping. It literally cannot be done.
1
@Meeshell007 When you hear automation you think Darpa robots. When the automation that stockyard bosses actually want to use is more if Abode made spyware.
1
@rnielvhinsieans.elpidama6935 1000% incorrect. Trucks have higher profit margins due to them qualifying as light trucks to avoid clean air regulations. That's why they are marketed. Cars companies don't care what you want, Because they already know people actually want adequate mass public transit.
