  34.  @sj4632  a legitimate point? I'm still waiting to hear this point. There's a considerable difference between military aid and the surreptitious placing of nuclear weapons in Cuba. I know that the Soviet Union only lasted a relatively short time however don't bother suggesting that their grip on these other nations wouldn't have equally lasted hundreds of years hadn't the Soviet Union collapsed, that's hardly a mitigation of what they did. Hitler? Oh the man that the Soviets conspired with to divide up Europe between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union? It always makes me smile when people like you hide that fact. The Soviet Union was socialist in name only, but are you now going to hold the west responsible for the fact that Russia has completely embraced capitalisma also? Ukraine is a sovereign nation who has a right to join NATO or the EU if they choose, it is not Putin's decision. I glad you mentioned missiles as you maybe aware that Ukraine had previously agreed to give up its nuclear missiles in response to a guarantee Russia would respect the territory of Ukraine..... just goes to show that trusting Russia is foolish and keeping NATO was the right decision. The Serbs were committing genocide with the help of Russia, the international courts have prosecuted Serbia for these crimes.... curious that you accept genocide carried out by Serbia but condemn what you see as western genocide. Libyans overthrew Gaddafi themselves, they executed him themselves, did NATO play a role? Maybe a very small piece, but for decades Gaddafi had been sponsoring terrorists throughout Europe.... he got what he deserved. Illegally seizing Crimea, invading eastern Ukraine and arming terrorists groups there and threatening to completely invade the entire country is what you seriously call restraint? Is that supposed to be a joke? You keep claiming a coup took place in Ukraine, which of course never happened, I've already explained that by definition is was not, what happened was Putin's interference in Ukrainian politics which then led to the protests against this.... Of course such a thing could never happen in Russia as Putin made protests against him illegal. The only reason so many ethnic Russians live in Ukraine is because of policies of Russocation, its curious that Russia has no problem with the Russian language being forced on Ukraine but objects to the Ukrainian government efforts to make the Ukrainian language official in Ukraine.. Putin is the only person responsible for any anti-Russian feeling in Ukraine but he will of course look for the convenient scapegoat of NATO

  104.  @LancesArmorStriking  You've speculated that Russia did not try to 'negotiate' back control of because of the the state of Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Historically when Russia or the Soviet Union wanted to extend its territory this was done by force or at least the threat of force. Ok specifically then why couldn't Russia enter into talks over Crimea with Ukraine. So you do engage in whataboutism then, right let's see. You are aware that it's actually illegal in Russia to even campaign for succession? You are aware that Russia refuses to accept the existence of Kosovo? So here's the problem then Russia doesn't allow its own citizens the rights that they say people in Crimea had while Crimea was part of Ukraine......a right that was immediately taken away once Crimea was annexed...irony? Now we can look at the alleged referendum itself, just looking at the results claimed by Russia are typically those found in rigged elections in dictatorships such as North Korea. A referendum arranged by the Kremlin, with their man Aksyonov running things.... Are you familiar with the term 'fox in the hen house'? So Yeltsin was an advocate for the creation of a Presidency of Russia, can you suggest an alternative? Maybe a new tsar? It just seems like you are looking for ways to undermine Yeltsin at this point. Did Yeltsin ask Clinton for help in his reelection campaign.... yes. Is there any evidence that Clinton did...... no and certainly not in the ways you're claiming. The people behind the reelection of Yeltsin were the oligarchs, they were the ones who financed and supported his campaign, they were the ones who owned the news media that could destroy Yeltsin or elevate his popularity. Clinton couldn't do anything. Got it.
