  43.  @bdubs532  If the administration was determined to do this, then the planning should have been accelerated earlier this year so we would be out in July. Long before the Taliban was near Kabul. That way there would be time to get our Afghan friends out as well.

If we were long gone by the time the Taliban swept into Kabul, it would still be tragic, but it would not be catastrophic.

I understand the practical considerations, but I always thought of India as a modern liberal democracy, with the same sense of norms and ethics (even though we don’t always act in accordance with them) as the west. Certainly in contrast to Pakistan. So it’s shocking to read such fervant messages of support for Russia on sites like Wion.
