India's continuing close relations with Russia, just goes to show you that international relations are a lot closer to plain interpersonal relations than is supposed in the marble halls of government and academia.

@abhisekhkumar4948 I could dispute some of the details, but our mutual histories have led us to this moment. Still in a cold world, it's nice to have allies/friends. I like the allies/friends we have. Who are India's allies? They don't really seem to have any. Except of course Russia. A country that is staging an aggressive war of naked conquest, and which everyday grows closer to India's mortal enemy China. That sucks.

The United States and India should be allies, but there are a lot of things which 'should be', and just plain ain't.

@kumarabhijit6865 Global partners aren't the same as allies. Especially when push comes to shove. And it doesn't matter if you have the term in your language or not. Further it does not matter if you are the nicest guy on the block if no one comes to your aid when you are attacked.

And clearly despite your supposed support for Ukraine, you are making excuses for Putin and Russia. The actual ones who started this brutal war. Having allies is a good thing. It's how World War II and the Cold War were won. If China or Pakistan invades India, no other nation on Earth will lend a hand. So enjoy your solitude.

@electric_boogaloo496 So what. France buys very little military hadware from the United States. And yet we are still allies. If France is attacked we will come to their aid, and when we were attacked on 9/11 France went to Afghanistan with us. Just because you buy a countries weapons does not make you allies.
