@AutismIsUnstoppable Economically thats undoubtably true. However, if Putin gambles the fighting would be over quickly, and he could install a friendly regime. He might believe he could get away with it, and then weather the sanctions. Trouble is as we found out in Iraq and Afghanistan, it's relatively easy to knock off a less powerful military, it's a lot harder to bring about the postwar conditions you want without a massive investment of time and resources (which Russia does not have as you said).

@AutismIsUnstoppable Possibly or maybe the Ukrainian military will fold after a few heavy blows. It's not possible to say.
