Never forget the pharmacists' principle: "Eight hundred years of protecting the people from the doctors."

@angelmessenger8240 Yeah, look at how that Hudson's Bay Company is running 40% of North America! Oops. That was 250 years ago. Next thing you know, somebody is going to try to tell me the East India Company.. uh... the Whutt?

An ounce of hype is faster than a tonne of performance.

Nobody is asking you to whip yourself. Did you know you can edit videos, or re-record your spiel without the stupid mistake?

@BenWard29 But it would be nice having that other one telling us "You're so nice. You're a lovely universe..." Compliments!

@blindthrall Awww, c'mon. Classical physics has all these pesky infinities caused by dividing by zero all over the place. So we fix it: we get rid of the zeros by calling them little itsy-bitsies. Since simple harmonic motion is the oldest fribble in our toy-chest, we'll say the little itsy-bitsies all vibrate. Trigonomentrically, so we can do math on them easily. Voila! String theory. What could be more obvious?

Fine, Brian, except for one thing, that "quantum leap." A quantum leap is the smallest distance anything can move, and it's pretty usually exactly the distance stuff does move, if only to keep itself uncertainly enough located for Heisenberg to be happy. You don't need any evidence to take quantum leaps. Brownian motion will do the job for you.

@incognitotorpedo42 Not quite, Torp. I think Remy's point is the opposite. They think they need help and they don't. Their problems are imaginary, and their fake need is the same.

Uh, Joe, no, buggery does not lead to inbreeding. Now then, where are those Aydrieondacks? New York has Adirondacks. ad-der-ron'-dax. Um, it's pronounced the way it's spelled. Think there's a connection? 1496 - "nineteen-forty-six" at 9:16. Aha! Straightforward dyslexia. There is hope, Joe: https://www.healthline.com/health/dyslexia-in-adults

"Klee Irwin and the Quantum Gravity Research team have taken this and constructed a theory about the nature of reality itself all the way down to the plank length, ..." That is very important, because one of the things you need to know to be a sergeant in the Canadian Army is "How long is a plank?" Don't let anybody know I told you. The answer is "Twice as long as half." The bad news is there are two other things you need to know, and I'm not going to tell you. A test so difficult even Max Planck might have failed it...

Wrong question. It's are we the humans before advanced civilization? Or will it be some future race, succeeding us as we have succeeded the Homo Erectus, Homo Habilis, and all the others? We might be the Homo Atomicus, with the Homo Civilis one or two down the line.

A solar battery is not a source of energy. All batteries use up energy in the course of storing and releasing it.

The Pacific to the East , the Atlantic to the West... (and Detroit is north of Canada...)

Sorry, Joe, "Lords of Light" was written by Roger Zelazny. Zeh-laz-knee. Don't take my word for it: it's written on the cover, which you show at 3:51. It's easy enough to correct your narration. Just re-record it. The electrons won't mind being re-used -- correctly once you get it right. (and knowing that you mispronounced it and then insisting on doing so is nothing to be proud of: It's an insult to the author, quite apart from being a stupid boast of your superiority to us, your audience.) Mark Fisher's group was named Kyberpunk, not the Kay-punk you refer to. Again, you can find the correct name of the group on your own screen. At 6:11. You're welcome.

I love the fact that the Western end of the Panama Canal is the Caribbean end. The Eastern end is into the Pacific Ocean. It's almost but not quite North-South, with a slight trend in the "wrong" or counter-intuitive direction.
