@brandonlance3601 "Baa!" bleats Mr Pooty, despite the fact that the wool has all gone from his head.

@EhDre-y1u Ukraine is suffering terribly -- but Russia is the one with the major manpower problem. I think it's likely that senior people in the Russian military and its several secret pollice forces are paling at the thought of importing huge numbers of African and Mongol forces: Russian Orthodox culture is as racist as any other in the world. And it only takes one bullet to put Putin away.

@johnobrien3684 John, You're confused about where Hitler was defeated in 1941~42: He was in Ukraine, fighting Ukrainians among others. He never really got into, uh, Kievan Rus. Um, have you considered rading a leetle bit more history? John?

@robertamann2093 It is not delusional to believe that Russia is fundamentally weak, started out on the breaking point and getting weaker every week, and a lot faster than Urkaine is. Russia is paying through the nose for every bit of help it buys from India, North Korea and China -- and China at least is prudent and selective about what it chooses to let Russia have. Ukraine, on the other hand, is being generously assisted by all its friends, near and far -- and Byelorussia, under its regime's gun from "ally" Moscow, is quaking.

@jaxvoice718 Ukraine's friends help her generously. Russia's supplier jack up their prices to the limit.

"...whether Harris or Trump wins " seven minutes in. Not "win," Ian: Both Harris and Trump are singular proper nouns. When a guy loses control of his own native language, he doesn't give off an impression of thinking clearly, Ian.

Empty, Methinks you overestmate Putin's popularity in Moscow.

"Ukrainians have no claim on any part of Russia," Ian very plausibly says. He refers to Moscow's continent-wide empire as "Russia," not "Kievan Rus" for some reason. 🤣😂

The fundamental thing we are seeing is a psychological event inside poor Mr. Putin's head: Moscow's empire is under great spinal stress, by the emergence of a wealthy China in the Far East and from the burgeoning cultural confidence of the Moslem middle of his straggling, weak, over-extended, land. Nobody in any of that 70% of his territory sees any reason to be paying taxes to Msocow. All those peoples can see very clearly that they would be better off integrating into the Chinese economy or picking up cheques from the Gulf. What should he do? What should he do? The sky is falling. The sky is falllng, Putin Little! Well, it's ovious, innit? Time for poor Pooty to distract himself by making war on the nearest possible victim. They are an advanced industrial nation? Who knew? And their people remember being slaughtered by Stalin? Stalin? I don't know anything about no "Stalin," poor little Pooty deceives himself.

@fishdontjumpboingboingboing, Ian looks tired and is aging rapidly -- and this post is nothing but routine, thoughtless, pap. This is not the Ian Bremmer we once knew.

@thewolfofswingthat2035 Wrong. The Arab terrorists, murderers of 1,000 innocents on October 7, have kept Netanyahu in power for a year or so longer than seemed likely -- but he is a boring old tool of the right-wing Soviet immigrants, not a criminal of any kind.

@freeheeler09 :,,, who is guarding the Chinese border?" you ask. The Chinese are, you silly bunny: there are all these Siberian Mongols flocking over looking for work,
