With the Muslim Republics in the middle, who would much rather be getting cheques from he Gulf than paying taxes (and blood) to Moscow, and with great big empty Siberia and the Vladivostok Peninsula staring China in the face, isn't it time to think about going back to the old arrangement, waay before the Tsar's Siberian Railway: Kievan Rus, and independence for everything east of the Urals?
