China "imports" $300 billion a year in chips, you report. Is it fair to assume that a good deal of that $300B is double-billion or excessively high prices paid from the Mainland to Taiwanese companies, perhaps even subsidiaries, for the benefit of rich Mainland owners and decision-makers? Here in Canada I was offered a deal a few years ago where I would supply a commodity to a Chinese customer, bill twice and supply once, putting the other money aside for the "customer," actually a Chinese government employee who controlled the paper. I turned it down, but I have no doubt that the money is flowing to that person's family by some other route. The gambling casinos of Macao are said to be mostly in the business of getting money out of China, though this seems a peculiar and expensive way of doing it. What do you think, Jon?
