  1. In 1970 (and perhaps for some time on either side of that), Roger Levien of the RAND Corporation produced a Gestetner newsletter, "Soviet Computer Review." He printed 1600 copies, half in English, half in Russian -- and shipped most of the Russian ones off to Russia, where they were hailed as better informed than anything the Soviets produced themselves.
