Poor sad little Mike. What a furshlugginer loserrrr!

Trump will have his day in court -- we hope, at last -- and he'll have the right to present his side of the case. Can you imagine if he did it honestly, Nonesuch? "Guilty, your Honor." What do you think?

No, Simon, his idea that the Chinese are saying "We're in charge now, you're finished" is hallucinatory. China is saying "We're trying to get domination of our immediate littoral and to open up our trade routes." That's all. McMaster's problem is that what China is doing is perfectly clear and to maintain a career as a commentator he has to have some sort of invisibles to reveal.

There is no insight here. Several reporters report that they know nothing. Everybody will say something more later. Or at least that's what they threaten...

@SarahsAtticOfTreasures Nope. Next cell over. Only with coffee and an open door.

Trump 20 to life. Give the guy three months in Riker's Island, just so he can collect his thoughts for the first time in his life. Then permanent supervised release. with a weekly quota of picking up garbage off beaches -- or public golf courses. Let the guy do something useful for a change.

Hospitalize the sicko.

Border-crossings are a phoney problem: the "illegals" work, pay their taxes and Social Security payments, and go home. They don't collect their Federal pensions. They have lower crime rates than legal American residents and citizens, and their Social Security payments subsidise people's pensions and the Federal debt. They are a huge asset to Americans, the working class, who depend upon Social Security, included.

Secret ballot? Long walk. Short plank. What is truly amazing is that none of these Republicans, not one, has done the homework of getting to know what a Speaker can do. If they had the faintest clue of the power, overwhelmingly and quietly for good, that Sam Rayburn wielded as Speaker, they would be fighting tooth and nail for the job. But there's a further problem: it's not enough just to win the job. It takes skill and grace and vast breadth and hard work to be able to fill the job the way Mister Sam did. There may not be any Republicans who have that.

If he really believed what he claims to believe, he would be afraid of being stricken down for blasphemy. He seems to know that he's safe, both now and after his death.

I worked with Margaret Thatcher in 1971 when she was Secretary of State for Education (and met her socially twice when she was Prime Minister a couple of years later). Thatcher and Harris are alike in some ways, imho: they're both top rate intelligences, utterly fearless, and thoroughly logical. So ok, iron ladies both, and Harris may very well live into Mrs. thater's title, with the capital ladies. They are of course thoroughly different in their political traditions -- which in real life only means they would disagree on politics maybe a quarter of the time. 😅. Total political difference only means occasional policy differences.

Republican small businesses and red state farmers need cheap immigrant labor. Any GOP Administration could have stopped the illegals on a dime just by throwing a couple of illegal employers in jail. But the illegals pay Social Security taxes without collecting their pensions, reducing taxes for the rest of us. That the GOP can whine about them as a Democratic fault -- on no evidence whatsoever -- that's just gravy.

Harry Truman 1948.

Mark, Agreed. I watched one of her concerts and my conclusion was that, while it wasn't really my kind of music, she was rather like the young Frank Sinatra: obviously polished, and obviously polished through just a whole hell of a lot of disciplined hard work. I thought her endorsement was somewhat the same way. She didn't tell anybody how to vote, in her first class prose. She told everybody to do the same amount of research she had done. A real winner! I'll send her records to my grand-daughters for Christmas!

Cheerios? Good thing it wsn't All Bran, fer shure, poor man,,,

Restrict guns to use within well regulated militias and this debate takes care of itself.

Brennan quotes some partisan as saying there are lot of grounds for appeals. Brennan does not identify even one ground for any appeal.

False equivalence: Hunter Biden doesn't pretend to represent anybody. I think poor Christie is ruining his act by veering away from criticizing Trump to lunging for some desperate proof that, roughly, "Look, look, I'm still a Republican." It doesn't need proving. Nobody can get that fat without being a Republican, so hang it up Chris. Stick with the one slim chance you have, or at least had, brazen honesty.
1
@meanmachine5598 Well, you got two things right: "mean" and "machine." Congratulations! But only two. Sad.
1
That doesn't seem likely. There are a bunch of people out there who are simply pro-America which means anti-Trump.

Female talking head can't handle the fact that there exists such a thing as a female Senator. Has to natter and fight; can't imagine doing an actual interview.

Relax, Christopher: that nasty bout of inflation is over, and there's a reason for it, and it isn't Joe Biden. The reason for it is, there was a huge lack of production -- of everything -- during Covid-19, but there was no overall cut-back in money supply. That means more money without more goods. That is a certain and absolute recipe for a corresponsing amount of inflation. Incidentaly, if you'll read Taylor Swift's ver-ree intelligent and careful statement, telling you how to vote was the one thing she very precisely did not do. She said she had done her homework and you should do the same thing. Christopher Perkins, I suggest you go do your own homework. And one of the things you should do some homework on first might be thinking about how to write an accurate post on YouTube. At the moment you don't seem able to do that.

"Inspiring"? Since education is a state responsibility, I guess that's the sorta hand-waving you're going to settle for, right? Memo to Chris Christie: The United States has no Federal highways. Those Interstates are all landing grounds for B-52s returning from bombing the Soviet Union. That's why every fifth mile is dead straight. So here's your query, Chris: what are you going to do to make it possible for the Deparment of Education to do anything useful?

Illegitimate Supreme Court: selective and discriminatory selection of hearings for "advice and consent" by Mitch McConnell. Republicans being anti-American and subversive, as usual.
1
"they"?
1
No, it's not. It is a very rare occasion, America for once trying to bring Trump before the law for which he has so much contempt. Your comment, Gimme, is as anti-American is the whole "America is not Great" Movement.
1
@lesliekelley3495 Trump 20 to life.
1
No, that isn't what he "promised," (as though a Trump "promise" has any meaning.) He promised to stop the conflict on his first day -- probably by stabbing Ukraine in the back.
1
@yvonneplant9434 Margaret's name if "Face"? Or maybe "the"? I know it's not "Nation," so you're gong to have to be clearer.
1
I hope Travis Kelce can take this in good style. (FWIW, my first report card from Upper Canada, where I eventually ended up demoted to the football C squad, included "A crashing tackle on the football field." 🤣😆)

The Republican Party is ver-ree high on any list of the country's problems.

@DogBeetleMan Protective isolation.

Of course he's in trouble: MAGA have never met a genuine Christian before. Not any particularly religious person, just a church-going, decent, normal citizen: incomprehensible to the MAGA mind!

Slaves brought their music to the Americas, thereby building most of American culture outside of the Scotch-Irish matching picture in the Ozarks and South.

Two leaders for this Department of Efficiency Department? No problem: One Secretary, one Administrator. Then he's add a Cabinet-level Department of Coordination Department to make sure they get along with each other. I think he still has a wife, daughter, or sister-in law to put in charge of that.
