And there's a complementary to what you say: most "security" isn't secure, it's just making your thing more of a pain in the ass to get into than the next one over. There are exceptions. The Federal Reserve's lines -- which, somewhat oddly, when I was in the biz used to be run by Yasuda Bank and Trust -- are about as unbreakable as the NORAD site in Colorado because they're important and there isn't really any "next one over."
