  1. Everybody talks about the huge tensile strength of carbon fibre -- when this isn't a tensile problem at all: the central part of the death-pipe is a tube. Squeeze it in the middle and it collapses with a wee bit of twist. Duh. It's designed for weakness! All the high tensile strength means is that when it collapses the ends come squishing in as well. The semi-spheres at the ends are designed for high compressive strength. The tube is engineered like any other tube for compressive weakness: this thing has one of the compressively strong ribs of a tubular submarine. So many fake experts! Aided in publicising their stupidity by uncritical, ill-informed and ignorant film-makers.
