  1. Correction: this will be a model for reforestation everywhere if it in fact works. So far it is an effective jobs program and a good example of optimisticblic policy. The Green Wall of China, an earlier version of this effort aimed at containing the continual, grinding, expansion of the Gobi Desert, has been a failure first time out. The sand has simply blown past it. It's a bunch of old hummocks out there in the desert, Ozymandias 2.0. I sure wish them well. This is important work, and it needs to be done all over the planet.
