Chris, Interesting point. There's no mention of the couple's possession of illegal drugs in the video. You'd think... On the other hand, since the whole thing cost them all those years of law school, the sentence adds up to a bit more than the few days in the slammer.

He "reached a settlement," apparently with enough cash behind it to leave people somewhat happy. They divorced, and she skipped the meetings to discuss her part of the payments. Kinda sad since from the video, at least, she seems to have been a class A-1 harridan.

You're sure they weren't top of their classes? I mean we're talking Irvine here, people whose grand-daddies didn't have the brains to get into Bakersfield...

@shadowwoman6216 What's your theory, Danny?

@LivingTreeCarpentry Chaim, you maybe don't know how much cops hate lawyers. I was at my local ward office a few years ago and had a run in with a particularly obtuse one of them. Coming out of the office steaming I ran into a couple of cops sitting around having coffee and they looked at me quizzically, like what was I so het up about. I muttered, "Like Shakespeare said, `First thing we do we kill all the lawyers'," and they damn near gave me a standing ovation. It's a reaction I've seen a couple of other times, too.

@suesan5111 Some of us are, it's true -- but I don't see what that has to do with this story.

@napathon1 Don't worry, they can get by on what they steal from blind men's cups -- or nice salaried jobs on a Trump re-election committee.

@suesan5111 That's the nuttiest post I've seen in a while -- but you win a prize of some kind. There used to be a cocktail party game where you tried to come up with a term that got just one Google response. Your "Kaniphin" gets none. I take it from the context that it's some sort of specialist term in a racialist cult that you belong to. Fine. have a nice life. Just be on notice that you're a couple of hundred years out of date for the idea that you can tell who's Jewish by name or looks. I know nothing about your McEnroe and Bundy; "Son of Sam" Berkowitz's family stopped being Jewish a couple of generations back as far as I know. And in my family we come in several different colours, no doubt "races" to you, but all Jewish. Cheers, -dlj.

@johngalt2506 And lost -- as befits his demonstrated level of competence, let alone the facts...

@c.9231 Well said. I think she may be one of what Fletcher Knabel, in his good novel of California politics The Seventh Wave," called "little old ladies in running shoes."
1
@solosam9 That's my point: because they were lawyers.
1
@solosam9 Um, did you maybe miss the point that both the people making the accusation were lawyers?
1
@solosam9 I just don't understand your questions. It seems to me you answer yourself every time. But just one more time: here trying to get a volunteer sacked is an act of ver-ree peculiar vindictiveness and oddity. This couple had already made themselves conspicuous, don't you think? Then you get a pretty weird offense. Drugs being left lying around in a car is like not normal middle-class behaviour. It just screams weirdness. Finally, fake drug set-ups are a pretty common event. Far be it from me to suggest that a spare joint for planting is part of the equipment of every drug raiding party in the War on Whatever they're making war on now... but cops do know a wee bit about set-ups. OK? Enough. over and out.
