  1. That's stupid, anonymous "self." The illegals pay the same taxes as any other working people -- but they don't collect their Social Security. They're a big net gain for all the rest of us.

  3. Quite the opposite: the IRS doesn't have the enforcers it needs to shut down the huge numbers of -- generally Republican -- cheats. They would, of course, much more than pay for themselves.

  4.  @sueallen8188  We're already got it. The current tax system is ver-ree close to flat. Across the board every income group pays the same 19% -- except for the very very richest, who pay about 1% more, because some of them haven't managed all the escape routes, and the bottom decile, who also pay 1% more because the tobacco and alcohol taxes are bigger lumps out of their lower incomes.
