  1. All investments are products which somebody is selling. Companies are either selling their own stock, to make life easier for whoever's in charge there, or buing in their stock, for exactly the same reason. No, this doesn't mean that investing in companies whose managment have decided to reduce the amount of stock on the market is automatically a good idea: the market has already priced the prospects.
