A lot of us were there in 1967, and saw that it didn't work. And your idea that probation sets aside a conviction just shows the you don't have the faintest clue. Probation is one way of serving a sentence after being convicted. Please, please, take a day off to Google and Wikipedia yourself into at least distant contact with reality. At the moment you're living in dreamland, just reporting a comic book versionof reality.

Of that half, some will go back to just bitching in their beer about how stupid the guvmint is while the rest will split into all sorts of cults, the most sane being Bernie Bros wondering what ever appened to the unions that gave their fathers and uncles some protection on the job. Trump hasn't brought any 35% to the show, although his base base may be that high by some polling schemes. Any 37 Trumpoids will include at least 25 who always voted on the right. The other 12 will be half Democrats and half dull thudds who don't usually vote.

Everett Dirksen and Charlie Halleck directed the full power of the upper and lower Houses their party led or inspired for a decade. He is a very extreme avatar of the fact that positives come with matching negatives: for every flattery he has a backstabbing or a sneer, two other skills i which he is outstanding.

The extent to which "international law" actually governs with consequences is a proposition still in development -- as it will be for the next couple of centuries, no doubt. I think the above, the Doctrine perhaps being Rule One, the foundation for the whole thing, is at the stage of "Serious or decent take this seriously." It's not going to send more than one or two people a year. Yet. I don't, for instance, think hat Putin is likely to go on trial at The Hague, but I think there's a functioning consensus that he just might. This is enough to change the man's travel plans. He was very circumspect about the recent conference in Africa and he now knows that his luxury villa in Spain is an investment he will never get to enjoy.
