  2. He and I lived in the same little "village," Ookayama, Meguro-ku, a section of Tokyo, in 1972. I was on the north side of the station while he was on the Institute of Technology side of the tracks, but we had acquaintances in common, so I've followed him over the years -- approvingly for the most part. I only know what I've read in the papers, but it does seem to me he did some genuinely dumb things in recent years so I don't think it's all going to come back. Net net, though, Jess, I agree with you. The majority of his bets are sound and they'll come back. He's a smart and decent man, and he'll be able to figure out where he made mistakes, I'm pretty sure.
