  1. Over all of history Republican House majorities have run up more peacetime debt than Democratic ones. The basis of the present disaster is Trump's $8 trillion in cumulative deficits -- which beggar the four trillion or so which were Bushlet's accom;lishment after Clinton's balanced budgets. In both the Bushlet and Trump cases, the GOP disasters required years of remediation by the succeeding Democratic Administrations -- which did not stop Republican loudmouths from accusing the Democrats of "running" deficits. In both cases the deficits in Democratic years were simply the inescapable results of prevous Republican mismanagement -- or deliberate give-aways to the rich, your call.
