Sadly, climate change has a million authors, not one like the ozone hole. This one is going to need international cooperation -- something we're not very good at.

The ozone hole was caused by the release of fluorocarbons, almost all of which were made by one company, Dupont. Dupont's scientists figgered out what they were accidentally doing, so they went to their boss, Senator Pete Dupont, who essentially owned the joint. They explained the problem. He said "Right. We're going to have to stop." Stopping was the easy part -- which they did. The hard part was chasing down all the fluorocarbons in the tens of millions of refrigerators out there. They did that, too. Well done, Pete Dupont... uh, modulo the detail that you-all caused the problem in the first place.
