  1. Tech is knowledge. We share it, just like we share sunlight. The most important thing America taught China was what a middle class consumer society needs made. When America wanted to buy it they sometimes taught their Chinese suppliers how to make it. For their, America's benefit. I notice that on simple things made in China the Chinese routinely improve on what we originally sent over. A simple example: a plastic dustpan I bought at Dollarama for a dollar. It is more rigid than the American one I owned before, and has a ragged edge on one side, useful for brushing fur and hair off the hand brush I use when I tidy up the corners of the floor. Some models, at the same price, have a rubber edge for a tight connection with the floor. An altogether superior product to the things it is replacing.
