  1. Clue: If you're recording at home one place to cut down the echoes is your desk or table: cover it with a cloth at minimum, prefereably with a pad -- maybe a couple of towels and a table-cloth. Hard surfaces behind you are a bad idea. Go for curtains. Have carpets on your floors. You don't have a professional studio at home -- but you can mute the worst of the shortcomings, that woing-woing-wong off every hard surface.

  2.  @FerMuBe  Yup. That's step one of about five or six. Audio is genuinely difficult. That's why sound men exist. It is dopey to just slap a random mike down and tape whatever is going on all around you: yo're trying to broadcast one specific voice at its best, not everythng making noise on the nearest city block. And you want it once, not the four times it's ricocheted around the room.
