Uni, you're talking through your hat: the colonies had been operating for up to 166 years by the time of the first try at a national Constitution -- the failed 1776 one. Considering that the democratic parts of both Constitutions, that one and the present 1779 one, are based on the Constitution of the Seneca Nation, us white folks weren't starting all that much "from scratch." We stand on the shoulders of giants, moral giants. (And just incidentally, who picked their own tobacco they got us addicted to, without needing slaves to do it for them, thank you very much.)
