  5. Trump speaks with such apparent sincerity that it seems he really doesn't understand how laws are made and how executive orders are written. The same laws were on the books when the Democrats were in the White House, and children were not being ripped away from their parents as a matter of policy then. The policy is Jeff Sessions's. It is entirely possible that Sessions is making it as cruel as possible in order to earn Brownie points with Trump, because Trump is angry over the perfectly legal investigations going on. intra-Cabinet fights being fought with children used as pawns, by a Republican Attorney General against a Republican President. Whew!
