@NetRubies You're not making the slightest bit of sense. Lincoln didn't take any Confederate South back: he intended to crush the Confederacy, with the South remaining in the United States. No "the South" "decided" anything: Slavers, mainly in the middle and south, tried, eventually with secession and war, to maintain their evil system of slave-holding. There is no parallel whatsoever with the confrontation between Han China and multi-peopled Taiwan, nor even with the now olden conflict between Communists and Guomindang.
