@pablorages1241 Toyota is an interesting exception: it is artificially small. The main assembly line in Toyoda is surrounded by "other" companies that supply it with parts. The managing family owns the majority of the shares of most of them, but they are formally separate companies and all have their own managements. They are connected by a storm of bicycles, carrying the IBM cards from the near-empty parts bins on the line, telling these near-subsidiaries what to send over by fork-lift, toot sweet. The company treats the streets of the city like its own factory aisles, and all these companies' bicycles and fork-lifts are most of Toyoda's city traffic.
