  1. Actually I have heard of Softbank: it was one of my neighbours in Ookayama, Tokyo, fifty years ago. That's the home of TIT, Tokyo Institute of Technology, maybe not quite MIT or Stanford, but pretty far up there as tech schools go, and Son was a brash young guy who thought if Bill Gates could do a dumb thing like charging for software on those little computer things maybe h could get into that business too.
