Be grateful that the line is drawn I've chatted with one local foot patrol guy in line for coffee at Tim Horton's, and he told me, and I believe him, that he tries to pay and they often refuse to take his money. Timmies, and the weirdie five-bucks for a foam cup folks, ah, yes, Manybucks, should charge the cops the same as everybody else -- but make some serious contributions to the associations of police who keep them safe 24 hours a day and the many many garbage guys cleaning up their street mess.

  26. This is a bit of a relief. I've known that our customs and RCMP people have been doing a good job over the past couple of decades, but the last two years of gun nonsense had worried me. Here the locals seem to have been on the case. The 83 person round-up on Seaton Street a couple of years back was a mixed success: some dumb innocents were swept up, and one of the majors made it out to Jamaica unscathed. Still, net net it was pretty sound work. This week's news shows that the feet were still paddlling while the mallard was swanning around serenely on the surface of the water.
