This whole thing is particularly stoopid since it comes to the Haitians: they are here legally as refugees from a repressive and inept home government, they are far more law-abiding than average Americans, and they are strivers, good workers and hungry for education. They will be like the Jews of the immediate post-Civil War period: a little odd and outside the system in the first generation, and then strongly represented in the social and economic elite by the third. Our grandchildren's doctors and lawyers will be overly likely to be of Haitian extraction.
