  5. Tanks are not supposed to fight tanks. If your tanks are fighting the other guy's, you both made a mistake weeks ago. Their only real use is killing infantry. In a major desert battle, 1000 Brits against 800 Germans leaves you with 150 Brits and 50 Germans. Almost everybody dies. Even in a massive Israeli-Syrian "victory," Israel is down 400 tanks. Half the tanks can be repaired. This starts with getting the crew out. With a shovel and a scraper. They're death traps. The essential quality of a successful tank general is public relations: convincing his own guys that he cares for them.
