  2. In Russia Kick Ass is actually one of the good translations. It is "Pipets", which is sounds like 12+ alternative to word pizdets, which means "Fucked up".

  3. It is not the worst naming for the movie based on the game. Usually they fully translate them. Like Assassin’s Creed. There was about 4 or 5 games, all of them was known as "Assassin’s Creed" without translation, and then movie came out and now it is Кредо Убийцы, translated title! Same for Max Payne, Alone in the Dark, Street Fighter, Bloodrayne. Why do they do this? They want to appeal for people, who don't know about this games and don't know english language? Maybe.

Поэтому это странно выглядит, когда все знают франшизы под оригинальными именами, появляется фильм как побочный продукт, который вдруг зачем-то переводят. Кроме Doom и Need for Speed оригинальное имя оставили ещё и Angry Birds. Это логично - в Angry Birds каждый ребёнок играл, а что такое "Злые птицы" никто не знает. Не понимаю, почему это не логично для других фильмов по играм, переводишь название - посмотри как переводили название оригинального произведения.

  10. I'm russian and I had almost the same problem with english language. I had english classes from kindergarden to university and never been able to spoke or understand english speach. Just because every teacher took about a year of study to set up british english accent with glottal t and all other bull instead of teaching to talk and undertand real english. I think it's a reason why russians rarely can speak english despite almost everyone have english class in school.

  14. You are totally forgot about Hangover 2. At this point, translators realized that they are completly fucked up - Hangover 2 is not in Vegas! So they translated it's title as Мальчишник 2: Из Вегаса в Бангкок, which means "Bachelor Party 2: from Vegas to Bangkok". And third part is just "Bachelor Party: part 3".

  15. About mafia movies. Scarface in russian is Лицо со шрамом, "face with the scar". Ok, but Capone (2020) is also Лицо со шрамом! Like it is some remake. And Capone (1975) is Капоне!

  17. Same with Intouchables in Russia. Remember, it is 1+1? Omar Sy plays in another film, Demain tout commence. And in russian it is 2+1. And of course, "The Upside" is "1+1: Голливудская история", "1+1: Hollywood Story". Simple maths for poor translators.
