  1. 1 meter is distance, that light travels in 1/299 792 458 second. 1 inch = 25.4 millimeters and nothing else. There is no Imperial System standardization other than standardization through Metric System. All Metric system is standardized in physical values (kilogram was last, it is settled only in 2019). That's all about every day use. Expats to USA usually have probles with Imperial Sysem for couple years, like wtf if the mile? It means nothing. And after some time they just use them, like "ok, 40 mph is speed limit, car goes brrrr, spedometer goes to 40".
