As a Russian I see US electrics as so outdated that it is funny. Our standard power outlet can deliver 3500W power instead of how much? 1800W, I believe? And our Type F outlets much safer both inside and outside. Even in cheapest electrical outlet it is impossible to have these naked hot contacts, they are deep inside socket, but good enough outlets have child protection preventing sticking inside something that is not electric plug! Speaking about internal safety, why do you have metal socket boxes, which are fraction of inches air-isolated from hot wire? Our socket boxes are all plastic! And we don't ever make hooks on the end of the wire, our sockets are designed that way it holds straight wire, it is much safer because wire can't slip out of screw head while you tighten it. Even our ВВГнг (VVGng, strands for PVC-PVC-wire non-flammable) cable is much safer, because all wires are isolated individually. And talking about convenience, our wall outlets not stacked in pairs, you can make whatever you want from 1 outlet to 6 in row. And there is no up and down situation, because outlet is symmetrical!
