Im curious, and hoping a flat earther can help me.
One of your assertions is that the sun is local and close by.
So, could you tell me exactly how close it is?
Could you also then explain why, if its so close and heating up the planet, why the air temperature doesn't increase as i go higher?
And a further enquiry, given that you say the sun is local, i wonder if you could explain why the planet Mercury, which is proven to exist and orbit the sun at a distance of 43m miles, experiences daytime temperatures in excess of 400 degrees C, when our local sun barely gets the earths surface above 50 degrees C in places?
Any advice, flat earthers?

The vacuum of space does not exert any force on the atmosphere at all. It does not “suck” the air. We associate the word “suck” with “vacuums” but it’s a misnomer. That’s not what vacuums do.
Consider an example where we’ve pumped all of the air out of some box and created a vacuum inside of it. Let’s say we’re on Earth, at sea level, and we poke a hole in the box. What will happen?
Air will rush into the box and fill it. Okay. But why did it do that? Was it because the vacuum sucked the air into the box? No.
What’s actually happening there is that the air pressure around the box is forcing air into the space with no pressure. The air that fills the box is being PUSHED by air pressure into the empty space.
Vacuums never “suck” air. What they do is present an empty space and then air pressure forces the air into the vacuum.
Air pressure is not uniform throughout the atmosphere. The lower the altitude, the higher the air pressure; thus, as you move higher, the air pressure decreases. In fact, at the upper limits of the atmosphere, the air pressure reduces to basically nil.
And since there’s no real air pressure to speak of up there, then there is no force pushing the air into the empty space.
Now, this doesn’t mean gravity isn’t at work here. In fact, gravity is the reason we have air pressure in the first place. Gravity pulls on the atmosphere, compressing it, and creating pressure.
If we could magically turn off gravity then the atmosphere would be released from that compression and spring away from the Earth.
So, at the root of it, gravity is the thing that keeps the atmosphere near the surface. It just isn’t fighting the vacuum of space to do it.

So, building your car requires an understanding of physics, metallurgy and chemistry. Driving it requires an understanding of physics (acceleration, deceleration, kinetic energy, aerodynamics) at the very least.

Ever notice how the summer in the United States corresponds to winter in Australia? Or how winter in Italy lines up with summer in Argentina? This is because the Sun’s rays, which are almost perfectly parallel, strike Earth at different angles during different parts of the year. If the Earth were flat, the Sun’s rays would always come in at the same angle, meaning that the USA, Australia, Italy, and Argentina would all experience the seasons the same exact way.
With a flat Earth, we’d only get lunar eclipses at midnight, everywhere would have the same seasons, every location would see the same stars, all high mountain peaks would be visible from one another, and every place on your “side” of the Earth would see sunrise and sunset at the same time. Since these are false, so is the flat Earth.

To believe in a flat earth, you have to:
-believe that the sun and moon both defy physics to run in continuous circles overhead, and you have to overlook the fact that this would prevent people in the southern hemisphere from ever seeing a full moon
-overlook the fact that this would result in people in different hemispheres seeing different faces of the moon, and you have to ignore the fact that this would result in different lunar cycles in different parts of the world.
-believe that the sun somehow acts as a spotlight (which makes no sense). You also have to either believe that this spotlight somehow also illuminates the moon even though the moon should not be in the direction of the spotlight or you have to believe that the moon is self-illuminating.
You also have to believe in a “shadow object” for which there is zero evidence, but the existence of which is required to explain a lunar eclipse on a flat earth.
Further, you have to ignore the fact that a flat earth model can’t explain the fact that storm systems spin in different directions in different hemispheres.
You also have to believe that gravity is a myth and via unknown means, the entire universe is accelerating upward at a constant rate of acceleration of 9.8m/s^2, but the earth somehow shields objects on it from the force causing this acceleration, yet somehow the sun and moon aren’t shielded.
Also, you have to simultaneously believe that gravity does exist for every celestial body other than earth.
Additionally, you have to either believe that certain airline flights don’t exist and everyone who claims to have been on them is lying, or you have to invent fictional technology that lets airliners fly faster than the speed of sound and greatly exceed their fuel limitations.
On top of all of this, you have to ignore the fact that it is impossible to consistently plot known geographic coordinates onto a flat earth map. The math simply doesn’t work.
Finally, you have to invent an insanely massive conspiracy involving every government, every space agency, every airline company (and their pilots), every international shipping company (and their ships’ crews), every company that is involved with satellites, etc.
None of this makes any sense whatsoever. And this is what you believe in.

@Mike-zu8cp A selenelion occurs during a lunar eclipse when the sun and moon are observed above the horizon. Atmospheric refraction bends light rays and lifts the image of the sun, and the moon typically up to 0.6°, so both can appear above the horizon.
Flat-Earthers assert that a selenelion should not be possible if Earth is a sphere due to the fact during a lunar eclipse, the sun and moon are 180° apart. In reality, a selenelion is possible because Earth’s atmosphere refracts light.
During a total lunar eclipse, the position of the Sun, Earth, and Moon is in a straight line. In such a configuration, both the Sun and Moon should not be visible at the same time during a lunar eclipse from an observer on Earth.
However, Earth’s atmosphere refracts light. As a result, the actual position of the moon is up to about 0.5° lower than where it appears. And the same thing happens with the sun at the opposite point in the sky. It is the reason that observing both objects in the sky at the same time during a total lunar eclipse is possible.
This phenomenon is called ‘selenelion’ or ‘selenehelion.’ While not impossible, it is a rare phenomenon, and can only happen at a specific place and time during the progression of a total lunar eclipse.

1. The first known person to measure the distance to the sun was Greek astronomer Aristarchus of Samos, who lived from about 310 B.C. to 230 B.C.
2. If you consider a transit of Mercury or Venus, when the planet gets between the Earth and the Sun, and you observe the planet's path across the face Sun from two different places, measuring the chords across the Sun's disk and the timings, using no more than trigonometry, you can get an accurate distance to the Sun.
3. Another method to measure the distance to the Sun is through parallax, which involves observing the apparent shift in the position of the Sun when viewed from different locations on Earth.
4. Measuring the time it takes for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth can be used to calculate the distance.
These and other methods, combined with mathematical calculations, provide evidence for the distance of 93 million miles.

3. Another method to measure the distance to the Sun is through parallax, which involves observing the apparent shift in the position of the Sun when viewed from different locations on Earth.
4. Measuring the time it takes for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth can be used to calculate the distance.
These and other methods, combined with mathematical calculations, provide evidence for the distance of 93 million miles.

OK, let’s examine that.
Since the sun (flerfs claim) is 3,000 miles above the earth and is always directly overhead some place within the inhabited world - it can only shine heat and light onto the small regions where we live in this infinite disk.
That means that the further you go from where we live, the colder and darker the world would become.
However, if you looked further and further from the central region, the temperatures would eventually become so cold that the air would liquify and eventually, freeze solid.
If that happened, then the air pressure there would drop to zero.
Since the air pressure where we are is not zero - air from where we are would rush outwards to fill the space where the frozen air had solidified…resulting in 700mph winds radiating outwards from the inhabited world into the infinite (cold) areas.
Pretty soon, all of the atmosphere would have gone out there and frozen, never to return.
Without air pressure, the oceans would boil - and the resulting steam would also rush outwards and freeze.
So within a matter of days to weeks, the Earth would be parched dry and airless…almost exactly like Mars.
Therefore we don’t live on an infinite disc. There are no hidden lands, and the fact that the earth has been circumnavigated north-south and east west proves it.

To believe in a flat earth, you have to:
-believe that the sun and moon both defy physics to run in continuous circles overhead, and you have to overlook the fact that this would prevent people in the southern hemisphere from ever seeing a full moon
-overlook the fact that this would result in people in different hemispheres seeing different faces of the moon, and you have to ignore the fact that this would result in different lunar cycles in different parts of the world.
-believe that the sun somehow acts as a spotlight (which makes no sense). You also have to either believe that this spotlight somehow also illuminates the moon even though the moon should not be in the direction of the spotlight or you have to believe that the moon is self-illuminating. You also have to believe in a “shadow object” for which there is zero evidence, but the existence of which is required to explain a lunar eclipse on a flat earth.
Further, you have to ignore the fact that a flat earth model can’t explain the fact that storm systems spin in different directions in different hemispheres.
You also have to believe that gravity is a myth and via unknown means, the entire universe is accelerating upward at a constant rate of acceleration of 9.8m/s^2, but the earth somehow shields objects on it from the force causing this acceleration, yet somehow the sun and moon aren’t shielded.
Also, you have to simultaneously believe that gravity does exist for every celestial body other than earth.
Additionally, you have to either believe that certain airline flights don’t exist and everyone who claims to have been on them is lying, or you have to invent fictional technology that lets airliners fly faster than the speed of sound and greatly exceed their fuel limitations.
On top of all of this, you have to ignore the fact that it is impossible to consistently plot known geographic coordinates onto a flat earth map. The math simply doesn’t work.
Finally, you have to invent an insanely massive conspiracy involving every government, every space agency, every airline company (and their pilots), every international shipping company (and their ships’ crews), every company that is involved with satellites, etc.
None of this makes any sense whatsoever.

@marcusfanaro8555 Accounting for the curvature of the Earth is not usually needed for narrow high-rise building projects. Designers only need to ensure the foundation is flat, and the curvature of the Earth becomes non-factor.
For projects that extend over a long distance, like roads, railroads, canals, etc., they are built along the curvature of the Earth, and specifically accounting for the curvature is usually not needed.
But when the project extends on a long distance, as well as extending upwards, then we have no choice but to take the curvature of the Earth into account. One of such projects is the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, New York, United States.
The towers of the bridge are 1⅝ inches (41.275 mm) farther between the tops than at the base. The curvature of the Earth needs to be taken into account because the project extends on a relatively long distance as well as upwards. The height of the towers is 693 ft (211 m), and they are 4,260 ft (1,298 m) apart.
If the curvature of the Earth is not taken into account, then the two poles would not be straight towards to the center of Earth’s gravity, and the bridge will not be able to support itself properly. The cables would have to support some of the weight of the towers, as well as the load from the passing vehicles.

An airplane that is on a long-distance flight at a steady altitude maintains a constant distance from the center of the Earth.
So, it is not descending. When an airplane is descending, it is generating LESS lift than its WEIGHT, so that the opposing forces (lift, and gravity) favor gravity. The airplane which is flying at a constant altitude must maintain exactly the same amount of lift as its weight in order to hold that constant altitude. And, since the amount of lift is a function of the airspeed and the angle of attack, as long as the pilot holds those two factors constant (manually putting pressure on the control yoke/stick, or via the autopilot, or by using a trim tab), the airplane will hold a constant altitude from the centre of the earth.
I might as well ask, if I wanted to walk from L.A. to New York, is it downhill all the way?

Atmospheric lensing is studied in various scientific fields, but in everyday use this kind of atmospheric distortion is more commonly called atmospheric refraction. On this page we are concerned with a specific lensing phenomenon that is proposed by flat-earth proponents.
Let's go back a step. In the flat-earth model, there are various problems with the positions and movements of celestial objects. Flat-earthers usually explain the resulting discrepancies with perspective, which is based on the assumption that objects such as the Sun and Moon are moving closer or farther away from the observer. However the perspective explanation has a big problem: Objects that are moving farther away should appear to get smaller, but celestial objects don't. A popular solution for flat-earthers is to extend the perspective argument with atmospheric lensing.
According to the flat-earth theory, a photo showing the Sun receding into the distance but appearing to stay the same size because it's being magnified by the atmosphere.
Unfortunately there are numerous problems with this idea...
There is no supporting evidence. In order to take the idea seriously we'd need some evidence that such a phenomenon exists (the Sun and Moon can't be used as evidence because this would be a circular argument), but there are no supporting observations, no laboratory experiments or any other type of evidence at all to support the hypothesis.
There is no mechanism. Proponents often claim that magnification is caused by water vapour, but they are unable to show how this would actually work.
There is no variation. Atmospheric lensing should vary depending on conditions such as the thickness of the atmosphere and the amount of water vapour. This would mean that the size of the Sun and Moon would vary noticeably. They do not. It would also mean that the exact times of sunrise and sunset vary from the times predicted by the globe-earth model. They do not.
It's too coincidental. The angular size of the Sun remains effectively the same as it supposedly approaches and recedes. It would be an outlandish coincidence that atmospheric lensing always increases magnification at exactly the amount required to compensate for both the Sun's movement and varying atmospheric conditions.
It doesn't affect anything else. If the Sun and Moon are affected by atmospheric lensing, why aren't airplanes, hot air balloons or mountains? No matter how far away you get, you see absolutely zero atmospheric magnification.
Summary
Flat-earth atmospheric lensing is a phenomenon with no evidence, that can't be explained or demonstrated, that has an implausibly coincidental effect but only on objects that flat-earthers need it to affect, and even then does not match observation. It's not a credible hypothesis.

One: the "verbal garbage" I post comes from scientific institutions like NASA, ESA,Cambridge, Harvard....the list goes on. Whereas all you seem to post (and then take down), is your own Dubay-inspired rubbish; unproven and easily debunked.
Secondly, I can go and prove the shape the earth myself. I can see offshore wind turbines from my house, where the curvature of the earth means those further away look lower than those nearer, even though I know they're the same height.
I've also just spent 3 months travelling the world, flying on flights that disprove your "flat earth map"...and I own a telescope; on clear nights I can see planets in detail, ISS....the list goes on..
Whereas you, my dear lying Natalia, you have nothing. No proof, no peer reviewed data, not even a renowned scientist to quote to back you up...
