  9. 😊On a positive note. I am so grateful to be here in a seniors home whenever I am ill. I am so grateful to have no worries about buying food, affording heat, and coping with house maintenance. I am so grateful that I am not a burden on my family. In life we take the good with the bad, don’t we? 🌟

  19. Unfortunately I do agree, somewhat. I always say, we are waiting to die. There is no purpose to our lives. And yes, the elderly are often treated like infants. I wish I knew the answer! 🌟

  20. 🌟As a teenager, 65 years ago, I volunteered in a seniors home in the UK run by the Little Sisters of the Poor. The building was ancient. I remember seeing cockroaches in the kitchen. However, everybody did something meaningful. They worked in the kitchens, the gardens, the chapel. They did the laundry and took care of the dining hall. Even those in wheelchairs had jobs to do. There was no sitting around in a haze or a daze in front of a television set! I am in a seniors home and would feel so much better and fulfilled if I could just do something. If we all worked together it would also give a sense of belonging and community. This idea reminds me of the L’Arche communities. 😊

  23. 😊Just to clarify one thing. That is why it is difficult to leave a seniors institution. We become institutionalized. We learn to be helpless and dependent. We lose our self confidence, and become unsure of ourselves, of our ideas and of our ability to make decisions. We become an outsider in the world. The world becomes a strange and frightening place. Oh dear! 😢

  28. 🌟Life is not easy, no matter how old we are! They say challenges and trials are good for us, because they can promote inner growth. However, we don’t need to go looking for difficulties! And removing obstacles to a comfortable life, or avoiding them, is a very good thing. So this is why these warnings are important. Thank you for pointing these things out to the elderly and to their relatives. 😊
