  1. Bill's material when Letterman was on NBC got him into plenty of trouble. He did a bit about pulling a chair out from under a classmate, after he got his chair pulled out from him. The punchline? Kid broke his back, ended up wheelchair bound and in every one of his classes. The kid wheeling himself into class saying, "very funny Hicks." You can guess how that went over with Standards and Practices. Hicks got a raw deal even when Letterman was with NBC. His last censoring was a slap to the face. Makes me wonder tho, would Letterman's opinion over the infamous 12th and final appearance have changed had he known that he was dying of pancreatic cancer?
