For the next three months they would send their divers down to recover bodies in the morning, dug graves and buried the bodies in the afternoon, then spent the evening getting their gear ready for the next day. My father's youngest brother's best friend had enlisted in the Navy because "it was safer than the Army". He died aboard the battleship Arizona when her forward magazines exploded.
