@alexacabello9625 Most trainees that drop out do so at the 34 foot tower, not on the 250 foot tower or the aircraft. And you are taught to keep your eyes on the horozon and not looking down

@alexacabello9625 Yes, all the jumps at Basic Airborne are static line jumps where a cable attached to the aircraft opens your chute pack and deploys your chute before breaking. If you have a malfunction, you deploy your reserve chute (on your chest) by pulling its handle. AIRHORN !!

@colin1818 Back in my day (when how to fight Pterodactyls on your way down was on the curriculum). everybody did the 250 foot tower. Times change...But I know I went through essentially the same program my uncle went through in 1943 and almost all of what I went through in 73 is still there in 2022. And we'll still be going out the doors of C-130's when they finally shovel me under.

Went through 49 (gasp) years ago as an ROTC cadet. Second generation - my Uncle Lee was a rifleman in the 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific in WW2. Yes, it hasn't changed much, why fix what ain;t broken? Then I became a jump qualified tanker when I got my branch the following Spring.
