  1. The  WW2 US infantry squad included a grenadier - armed until quite late in the war with the M1903, although I think it was not using the VB but a spigot design later adapted to the M1 ( there was a problem adapting the M1's gas system for the new launcher)  BTW Edmund G Love's memoir "War is a Private Affair" mentions a grenadier with an M1903 on Okinawa.
