@xXxSkyViperxXx Magellan's belief that his armor, guns, and metal weapons would be seen as "magical" probably stemmed from the fact that up until then, he was only interacting with Native Americans and isolated Pacific Islanders. Neither of whom have metallurgy or seen a white guy. He kinda forgot the Philippines was in Southeast Asia. Cebu was a major trading port servicing ships all the way from the Red Sea. The Portuguese had been trading with and had invaded Malacca less than 10 years ago. Magellan's personal slave and interpreter, Enrique of Malacca, could actually talk to the natives of Cebu in Malay. Those natives had seen Europeans before. They have seen metal armor (which is useless in the tropics). And more importantly, they too have metal weapons and ship cannons.
