As an agnostic atheist in a strongly Catholic country, this would be easy for me. I know all the Bible stories. I know all the rituals. Even memorized some prayers and songs. I only tell people I'm an atheist, if they ask. Even in government forms, I still put "Roman Catholic" because it's easier to explain. My family knows, but they're not super religious anyway, so they don't really care that much. The only time people might even realize I'm an atheist is that I don't make the sign of the cross during prayer. I just bow my head in respectful silence.

In summary: most Christian sects don't consider other sects as "true Christians". Similar to Shia and Sunni in Islam.

That would only work for fundamentalists, specifically American protestants. Most Christians around the world aren't that literalist or isolationist. Especially not among the majority Catholics. Growing up in a majority Catholic country, we used to differentiate between "strict" Christians and "normal" Christians. The strict ones were mostly protestants - Baptists, SDA, Jehovah's witnesses, LDS, Born Again, etc. Kids whose parents dont even allow them to listen to mainstream music or read books like Harry Potter. Kids who had diet restrictions, like not eating pork or drinking alcohol.

Well only protestants have pastors who have kids, lol. Catholic priests don't marry. So no kids.
