  2. What's ironic is that Iran (or Persia rather) was a former Zoroastrian empire, before they were invaded and forcibly converted by the Arabs. What's even more ironic is that for all their hatred for Saudi Arabia's Sunnis, they are exactly alike in practice, when it comes to religious hyper-conservatism, differing only in minor rituals and of course, the historical split. In the end, the Arabs won. The Great Persian Empire that lasted for thousands of years, is now truly dead, not only politically, but also culturally. Modern Iranians are basically Arabs now, mirroring what happened to Egypt.
