Bonbadil Moi No. Treating men and women like they're different species is unjustifiable, however you look at it. Those women are "happy" because they've never experienced anything else. So even a small room where they can wear whatever they want and play sports would seem like paradise. They don't have a frame of reference. So they don't even realize that it's just a glimpse of the freedom that they don't have. They are, for all intents and purposes, pets.

Bonbadil Moi Again those princesses. They're PRINCESSES. Daughters of the King. Where are they now? And of course that guy was condemned. But only because it was discovered. How many more are there that aren't shown? And you talk like women asking for divorce in Saudi is an easy thing. LOL. It's not. Men can divorce women immediately (without even needing to inform them). Women must justify why she wants a divorce. If he doesn't agree and she can't prove that her husband harmed her, she remains his wife. And there's the little thing about getting to a court in the first place. Given that her husband has total control over her life, he can easily prevent her from seeing a judge. And nothing in the laws of Saudi Arabia can stop him from doing that. And again, it's not even just wives. There are numerous cases of maids and servants being raped and beaten and treated like slaves. Filipinos, Indonesians, Malaysians, Indians, mostly. They're not paid, not fed enough, have their passports taken away. A lot of them come home in coffins with excuses like it was "suicide". And those that escape and report their abuse are often jailed instead by Saudi authorities. These are not rare cases. They have been happening for decades.

Like what for instance? LOL. I'm also very very sure that YOU are male.

Bonbadil Moi Again, IF she is loved. Always dependent on the men. What happens if she's not? You're a man. How many women have you talked to from other families? Probably very very few. So how can you say that they're happy too? Or even treated well? You can't. Because Saudi society hides the lives of women. There is no transparency. If your neighbor was beating his wife every night, you would never know anything about it. The difference is that in western countries, women can find help immediately. Even if they don't report it themselves, people around them can usually tell and report it. In Saudi, even the law is against them. And burqas conveniently hide bruises and injuries as well. Those maids and servants I talk about? Most of them actually reported the abuse to the police or to the wives beforehand. But no one does anything. Almost all of them only got help when they finally escaped and went to their embassies.

Wow! It will only take 200 years for them to catch up now to modern civilization! So close! Not.

Don't count on it. The moment that happens, another group will rise up and suppress it, claiming it's "not Islamic". There'll be more war, and they'll be back to herding goats again. You seem to have forgotten that Iran was once pretty modernized. But then the Ayatollahs hijacked the revolution against the Shah of Iran. Same with Afghanistan, which was dominated by the Taliban as soon as they got independence. It's currently happening in Central Asian nations as well, which have traditionally been more secular under the USSR. With the Soviets gone, they're slowly bringing back the Shariah little by little.

Narrowc ross So how long will it take? Another 1000 years? And within those 1000 years, they're slowly leaking out extremists that blame all their problems on other nations? One of the two main exports of the Middle East is already violence, the other is oil. Even countries that are trying to help them, end up being targets. Even Red Crescent/Red Cross workers routinely get kidnapped. Most moderate Muslims have long left the Middle East. Those that can anyway. What hope do you have left for progress there? More so given that the first thing Islamic fundamentalism does when they come into power is take control of education institutions and the media. Ensuring that the masses remain misinformed at best, and illiterate at worst. You get nothing but a cycle of tyrants, over and over and over. Even the "Jasmine" Revolutions which were supposed to bring democracy at last, ended up backfiring when they were immediately hijacked by Islamists. One of them spawned ISIS.

+BEASTfckingCOAST Right. That's why they regularly execute atheists, "sorcerers", apostates, gays, women whose "honor" has been "damaged" (including rape victims), and anyone who dares criticize Islam in any way. -_-
