  1. You are confusing Austronesians with Australo-Melanesians. Aboriginal Australians are Australo-Melanesians. They did NOT have boats. They reached Southeast Asia via Sundaland, which once connected most of Indonesia with mainland Asia. Then crossed to Sahul (the combined landmass of New Guinea and Australia) either via rafts or through accidental strandings. This happened in an ice age, when sea levels were much lower. They also did not reach New Zealand or Island Melanesia. Those were reached by the much later Austronesian migrations (specifically Polynesians and the Lapita culture) who had advanced boat technology.
