  1. There is kind of a parallel between another group that is now also evolving wingflaps - the flying dragons of tropical Asia. Their gliding ability seems to be primarily for leaping from tree to tree. Unlike pterosaurs or birds though, the parts of their body that developed skin flaps, is weirdly enough, their greatly elongated rib bones.
