  2. nekochen, I’ve seen this question before. The Japanese where not being held prisoner. It was a period of declared war with Japan after the Pearl Harbor bombing. The Japanese where placed in camps for their own protection. Anti Japanese attitudes where high after Pearl Harbor so our government put them in “witness protection” to reduce the threat of domestic fallout. They didn’t want to be fighting a war a two fronts.
